Formally referencing the phone bench, a once archetypal domestic object that provided a place for tethered gossip, Repeat Seat represents both the uniformity and repetition idealized in post-World War II American suburbs. Relying on a strict grid of handmade ceramic tiles, Repeat Seat presents a juxtaposition of rigid hierarchy and the handmade suggesting that individualism is always in tension with utopian ideals of uniformity.
