Access to clean water is an increasingly problematic issue in our contemporary context. From Flint, Michigan to Newark, New Jersey people all across the United States struggle with the consequences of lead contaminated public water supplies. Potable water storage tanks in cities and towns are a critical resource and typically placed out of sight–we rarely notice them. Encasing purified water in transparent vinyl, Hard Water is a collection of single serving water storage units that highlight a utopian ideal of easy access to fresh, clean water and a dystopic reality of water contamination and scarcity.
